In August, China's lithium ore imports totaled 495,400 tonnes, a decrease of 6.81% compared to the previous month and an increase of 91.89% year-on-year, according to data from the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China. Among them, 305,500 tonnes were imported from Australia, a decrease of 19.3% MoM and an increase of 76.5% YoY. And that was imported from Zimbabwe stood at 133,700 tonnes , an increase of 45.6% MoM and 284.0% YoY.
The China's total lithium ore imports from January to August 2024 reached 3.7158 million tonnes, an increase of 39.5% compared to the previous year. Among them, 2.4031 million tonnes were imported from Australia, an increase of 7.7% YoY, and 797,900 tonnes were imported from Zimbabwe, an increase of 557.1% YoY. In addition, there were 217,900 tonnes imported from Brazil, with an increase of 170.6% YoY, and 152,300 tonnes were imported from Nigeria, a decrease of 2.4% compared to the previous month.
