Vale kicks off wet processing operations at Vargem Grande 1 Project
Located in Minas Gerais, the Vargem Grande 1 plant has been operating with natural moisture since 2019 due to the unavailability of water capture and disposal at the Vargem Grande dam, which is still undergoing de-characterization.
With the wet concentration operations resuming, the average quality of ore at the project is expected to improve by about 2% of iron content, Vale said. The mining giant expects its iron ore output to be 340-360 million tonnes in 2026, and the Vargem Grande project will make a great contribution to it, the miner added.
