FLASH: BHP iron ore train derails, impact minor
The accident occurred due to a track switch malfunction during the shunting process, causing a wagon coming off the tracks "at low speed" and a second one also "partially derailed," according to a BHP spokesperson.
"The safety controls we have in place meant nobody was in the area at the time," the spokesperson said. In addition to zero injury, the derailment also resulted in limited chaos at the spot as the derailed wagons were not laden with iron ore.
BHP's iron ore supply has not been affected by the incident, the company also confirmed.
