The foundations of 32 storage tanks were successfully delivered recently in the crude oil reservoir area of West Port Area of Yantai Port in Shandong Province, 10 days ahead of the original 100-day schedule, marking the project's offical start of the construction work, according to market news.
It is understood that the project (3 million cubic meters) occupies a total area of 800,000 square meters in the crude oil reservoir area. The preparation work includes site foundation treatment, 28 oil storage tank foundations of 100,000 cubic meters each and 4 oil storage tank foundations of 50,000 cubic meters each, as well as fire protection water tanks, accident pools, site roads, bridges and culverts, retaining walls, slope protection and other supporting facilities.
This project will significantly increase the Yantai Port's crude oil storage capacity and turnover efficiency upon completion, further enhancing its position as "China's largest crude oil blending, distribution and transportation hub" , and "an important energy import and export base in the north".
