Port Hedland's Apr iron ore shipments to China dip 1% MoM

Port Hedland, the top iron ore terminal in Western Australia, dispatched 42.5 million tonnes of iron ore to China in April, with the volume shrinking by 0.9% on month after logging a 27.9% jump in March, according to the latest data released by the Pilbara Ports Authority (PPA) on May 20. The volume shipped through the port was still 19.5% higher than in April 2023 though.

Meanwhile, Hedland's iron ore exports to global destinations also recorded an on-month decline last month, falling by 1% from March to 49.6 million tonnes, the PPA's data showed.
